QUESTIONS ABOUT PERMANENT COLOUR?
Here are the most common questions about Mattie Permanent, answered clearly so there are no surprises – only great colour.
Does Mattie Nature cover grey hair?
Yes – when used as directed, Mattie Nature is designed for up to 100% grey coverage. For very resistant grey hair we recommend using the correct developer strength and following the instructions on the box for best results.
Will Mattie Nature damage or dry out my hair?
All permanent colour works together with peroxide, but Mattie Nature is formulated to be as gentle as possible for a permanent dye – without ammonia and with certified organic ingredients that help keep hair feeling soft and smooth. Use the Mattie After Color Shampoo and Conditioner afterwards to support the hair and keep the colour looking fresh.
What makes Mattie Nature different from regular box dye?
Mattie Nature is an ammonia-free, vegan permanent colour cream with highly concentrated pigments and no mineral oil, silicones, parabens or PPD in the colour cream. Instead of feeling coated or rough, hair is left with a natural-looking result and a soft, glossy finish.
How long does the colour last?
Mattie Nature is a permanent colour, so the pigment stays in the hair fibre. The visible result will slowly soften over time due to washing and sun exposure, and you’ll mainly see regrowth at the roots rather than the shade “washing out”. Use colour-safe shampoo and conditioner to help maintain shine and vibrancy.
Which Mattie Vegan Peroxide strength should I use?
Mattie Nature is always mixed 1:1 with Mattie Vegan Peroxide. As a general guide:
3% – darken or go tone-on-tone.
6% – cover greys or lighten up to 1–2 levels.
9% – lighten about 2–3 levels.
12% – for stronger lightening up to 4–5 levels.
Always follow the detailed mixing table and timing on the packaging for your specific shade.
Can I use Mattie Nature on previously coloured or bleached hair?
Yes, Mattie Nature can be used on previously coloured or lightened hair, but the starting colour and condition of the hair will influence the final result. On very porous or over-processed hair, always do a strand test first and consider choosing a slightly darker or more natural shade.
How often can I colour my hair with Mattie Nature?
Most people refresh roots every 4–6 weeks, depending on how fast their hair grows and how visible their grey or regrowth is. Try to focus mainly on the regrowth and only refresh the lengths when needed to avoid unnecessary build-up.
